TRE ALTAMIRA is the largest InSAR group worldwide. With over 15 years of experience, we are globally recognised as leader in measuring ground motion with millimetric precision. We provide displacement measurements and mapping solutions from satellite radar data (InSAR technology) that are used in a variety of sectors, including oil & gas, mining, civil engineering and geo hazards.

Founded in 2000 (TRE) and 1999 (ALTAMIRA), we bring together a multidisciplinary team with excellent knowledge of SAR and InSAR applications. Our core competence is radar imagery processing and we are the reference InSAR provider for NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), CSA (Canadian Space Agency), ESA (European Space Agency), JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), CNES (French Space Agency), DLR (German Centre for Aeronautics and Space) and the World Bank.

Our processing infrastructure

Data Processing CenterAn in-house processing Datacentre, designed to cope with the high demand of processing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery. The architecture consists of a Linux-based parallel processing system, made up of approximately 100 servers and 276 cores for data processing and 10 CPUs for interactive session management. The system has also a storage capacity of 200 TByte accessed via a high-performance parallel file system.

Processing Operator
at TRE ALTAMIRA, Barcelona office

TRE ALTAMIRA is looking for a permanent, full-time Processing Operator with an engineering/technical background. The selected Candidate will join the Processing team in Barcelona that is dedicated to SAR data processing.

This role requires a sound knowledge of conventional and advanced InSAR techniques, and good programming skills. Proactive attitude, excellent capability in problem solving and strong motivation is mandatory for this position. The Candidate should manage different job orders and proactively propose strategies to improve data quality and the efficiency of production procedures.
The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and international environment, including signal processing engineers, geologists, software developers, as well as members of the commercial team. For this reason, an excellent attitude to team working is mandatory.

The Role:

  • Process satellite SAR images (in particular, SqueeSAR™ data processing)
  • Identify best processing strategies for each project, taking into account all factors that could affect the results
  • Liaising with the Post-processing team to fulfill their expectations after the analysis of the results
  • Support Sales department providing technical consultancy

Education & Experience requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Telecommunications, Remote Sensing, Earth Observation Science or other related disciplines. A PhD related to InSAR technology is not mandatory but welcome
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge in InSAR technology
  • Sound knowledge of Linux environment
  • Good knowledge of MATLAB™ software
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • C level English knowledge (speaking and writing)

The followings skills are an asset:

  • Knowledge of programming with GDAL library (Geospatial Data Abstraction Library)
  • Knowledge of other programming software languages (e.g. Python)
  • Familiarity with InSAR applications
  • Knowledge of other image processing software (e.g.IDL)
  • Basic Knowledge of inverse InSAR modeling
  • Knowledge of an additional foreign language (e.g. Spanish, Italian, French)
